cant we keep the "BOS" section in scotland and sell off the halifax section. and run BOS as a prudent bank without the gambling with our money ethos.

The main "funding" issues are found in Corporate and Treasury.Corporate is a BOS function hsitorically. Mortgage/savings books(Halifax's strength) are largely self-funding. Stripping out the Halifax will probably bankrupt the BOS part!

This should be about what is best for HBOS basically a sound company with a unique funding issue......not about BOS vs Halifax, Scotland vs. the union etc etc etc
self funding

Halifax mortgages haven't been funded by their savings book for a long time. Mismanagement started during Mr crosbie's time and continued with Mr Hornby, both relying heavily on mortgages and ignoring all round banking

Let's leave the running of the company until later.

This merger will make them [Lloyds Group] a dominant force in UK Mortgage lending for decades to come. We have fought hard for freedom before, now we need to fight to keep the freedom of choice.
